Hollywood’s awards season reached a major milestone Sunday night as the 83rd Golden Globe Awards kicked off in Beverly Hills, with red carpet arrivals setting the tone ahead of the live ceremony. The show is airing live on CBS and streaming simultaneously on Paramount+, bringing together the biggest names in film, television and — for the first time — podcasting. Comedian and actress Nikki Glaser returns as host for a second consecutive year. Glaser made history in 2025 as the first solo female host of the Golden Globes and is expected to bring her sharp, fearless humor back to the Beverly Hilton stage.
A High-Stakes Night for Film and Television
This year’s nominations, announced in December, highlight a competitive and diverse awards landscape. Leading the pack is One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, which earned nine nominations across the comedy and musical film categories. The film is up for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio. Close behind is Sentimental Value, directed by Joachim Trier, with eight nominations in the drama categories. Star Renate Reinsve is among the acting nominees, continuing her strong awards-season momentum.
On the television side, The White Lotus leads with six nominations, including Best Television Series, Drama. The ensemble cast is well represented, with acting nods for Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Jason Isaacs, Carrie Coon and Parker Posey. Limited series standout Adolescence follows with five nominations, after dominating the Emmys earlier this year. Fan favorites Only Murders in the Building and Severance each picked up four nominations.
