Apple just made traveling across the U.S. a whole lot easier — and fans are calling it a jaw-dropping upgrade.

The tech giant has officially added U.S. passport support to its Wallet app, allowing travelers to breeze through TSA checkpoints with a secure digital ID.

The new Digital ID feature lets passport holders store a secure, encrypted version of their passport directly on their iPhone or Apple Watch.

It’s currently supported at over 250 TSA checkpoints nationwide, making domestic travel shockingly convenient.

Availability

The feature is available for U.S. passport holders with an iPhone 11 or later running iOS 26.1, or an Apple Watch Series 6 or later running watchOS 26.1.

International travelers will still need their physical passport, but for domestic flights, this digital option is a heartfelt time-saver.

How It Works

At select TSA checkpoints, users simply double-click the side button on their device, hold it near a compatible identity reader, and authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID.

The process is quick, secure, and designed to feel effortless — a jaw-dropping change for frequent flyers.

Security & Privacy

Apple emphasized that all data is encrypted and stored securely on the device.

Each presentation requires user authorization via face or fingerprint scan, and neither Apple nor the issuing authority can see when or where the ID is used.

Setup

Adding your passport is simple.

Open the Wallet app, tap the “Add” (+) button, select “Driver’s License or ID Cards,” and follow the prompts to scan your physical passport’s photo page and NFC chip.

A selfie and guided head movements are part of the verification process, ensuring the digital ID is shockingly secure.

Fan Reactions

Social media lit up with viral excitement.

One user wrote: “Apple just made travel so much easier — this is jaw-dropping.” Another added: “Finally! Digital passports in Wallet leave me speechless.”

Cultural Impact

This new feature builds on Apple’s existing support for state-issued driver’s licenses and IDs, already available in over a dozen states.

By adding U.S. passports, Apple is creating a cultural moment that blends lavish convenience with heartfelt innovation.

With U.S. passport support in Wallet, Apple isn’t just upgrading tech — it’s redefining travel in a way that leaves fans speechless.
