Blake Lively is opening up about her marriage to Ryan Reynolds, calling him her “best friend” and partner in every aspect of life. The actress appeared on the January 15 episode of WWD’s The Beauty of Tomorrow podcast to discuss her haircare brand, Blake Brown. During the conversation, she revealed how deeply she relies on Reynolds, not only in her personal life but also in her business ventures.
Partners in Everything
“We talk shop all the time. We really are partners in everything just because we’re best friends,” Lively said. She explained that their curiosity drives them to analyze even the smallest details together, whether it’s making coffee or building a brand.
“We become sort of possessed by something that we’re building or creating, something that inspires us,” she added. “Our family is something we are eternally trying to figure out how to do better.”
Marriage and Family
Lively, 38, and Reynolds, 49, first met while filming the 2011 superhero movie Green Lantern. They married in 2012 and now share four children: daughters James, 11, Inez, 9, Betty, 6, and son Olin, 2½. The actress emphasized that Reynolds plays a role in nearly every part of her work. “He’s been my male tester for all of my fragrances, my formulas, my everything. He’s always stealing them from me. Nothing I do is without him,” she said.
Family at the Center
Later in the interview, Lively reflected on how her loved ones influence her career. “My family is all over everything I do, across any of my brands or any film I’m in. People don’t see it because I don’t share my family as much, but I see the imprint of my husband, my children, my mom, my sisters, my brothers, all over my work.”
Legal Battle With Justin Baldoni
Lively’s podcast appearance comes amid her ongoing legal battle with It Ends With Us director and costar Justin Baldoni. In December 2024, she filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and others for sexual harassment and retaliation, allegations he denies. The trial is scheduled for May 2026. Baldoni’s countersuit against Lively and Reynolds was dismissed by a judge. In June 2025, Lively spoke publicly about the case, saying she felt “more resolved than ever to continue to stand for every woman’s right to have a voice in protecting themselves.”
Looking Ahead
Despite the challenges, Lively continues to focus on her family and her growing business ventures. Her candid remarks about Reynolds highlight the strength of their partnership, both personally and professionally, as they navigate life together.
