Celebrity chef Bobby Flay is setting the record straight about his relationship with fellow Food Network star Brooke Williamson. After speculation began circulating online about a possible engagement, Flay clarified that the couple has no plans to walk down the aisle — and they’re perfectly happy that way.
Flay addressed the rumors during a recent visit to Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, where he discussed the diamond ring he gifted Williamson in October. The conversation was sparked by a viral Instagram photo that showed Williamson wearing a stunning diamond on her left hand, leading fans to believe the two were planning a wedding.
“It’s a Commitment Ring — Not an Engagement Ring”
Radio host Elvis Duran joked that Williamson was wearing “a diamond the size of my head”, but Flay quickly clarified that the ring was symbolic, not marital.
“It’s a commitment ring. I’m not engaged,” Flay said.
He went on to explain that both he and Williamson have been married before and are not looking to repeat the experience.
“We both don’t want to get married again. It’s okay. It’s great having a life partner. I wanted to give her something significant to make her feel committed — that’s all.”
Blending Families and Building Partnership
Flay, 60, emphasized the comfort and stability of their current relationship dynamic. Duran noted that Flay already has “a beautiful, beautiful family,” including his daughter Sophie Flay, 29, who joined part of the interview. Williamson also has a 17-year-old son, Hudson, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Roberts.
“It’s all coming together like The Brady Bunch,” Flay added with a laugh.
A source close to the couple had previously confirmed to PEOPLE that the ring was a gift, not an engagement symbol.
Williamson Praises Flay’s Thoughtful Gesture
Days after the ring went viral, Williamson explained the meaning behind it, telling PEOPLE at the New York City Wine & Food Festival:
“[Bobby is] a very generous, wonderful, romantic man, and it was a really thoughtful gift — that’s what it is.”
The pair first went public with their relationship in March and have since continued building a professional and personal bond. They currently appear together on Bobby’s Triple Threat and the Food Network’s BBQ Brawl.
Flay shared what makes their partnership strong:
“We are both in the restaurant business. We ask each other’s opinion about food, business, all the time. It’s really nice to have a best friend you’re dating.”
This holiday season marks their first official Thanksgiving together, and Flay confirmed they will be celebrating side by side — with a break from full-time kitchen duties.
“Thanksgiving is my favorite day of the year. This year, I get to share it with @chefbrookew. I don’t have to do ALL of the cooking.”
