Bruce Hornsby is back with a new album, Indigo Park, set to release on April 3 via Zappo Productions/Thirty Tigers. The 10-track project features an impressive lineup of collaborators, including Bob Weir, Bonnie Raitt, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, and Blake Mills.
A Nostalgic Yet Fresh Sound
Produced by Hornsby alongside Tony Berg and Will Maclellan, Indigo Park is led by its groovy, nostalgic title track. Hornsby, who turned 70 during the sessions, described the record as a reflection on aging with grace. “It’s just an old bastard, looking back,” he said. “To be honest, I’ve found a way, a path to grow old gracefully, with help from some newborn friends of mine.”
Collaborations That Shine
The album sees Hornsby backed by his band, the Noisemakers, with Mills on guitar, Pino Palladino on bass, and Chris Dave on drums. Two standout tracks, “Alabama” and “Might As Well Be Me, Florinda,” were co-written with the late Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. The latter also features Bob Weir and Blake Mills, bridging generations of rock and folk artistry. Bonnie Raitt lends her voice to “Ecstatic,” while Ezra Koenig appears on “Memory Palace,” adding a modern indie touch to Hornsby’s timeless sound.
Celebrating 40 Years of The Way It Is
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Hornsby’s breakthrough album with the Range, The Way It Is, which earned him the Grammy for Best New Artist. With Indigo Park, Hornsby continues to evolve while honoring his legacy.
Upcoming Tour
Hornsby will tour with the Noisemakers this spring and summer, starting April 9 in Cincinnati and wrapping July 25 at the Great South Bay festival in Patchogue, New York. Fans can expect a mix of new material and classics from his four-decade career.
