Chuck Norris, the martial artist and action star best known for Walker, Texas Ranger and The Delta Force, has died at age 86. His family confirmed the news in a statement on March 20, saying he was “surrounded by his family and at peace.” They added: “He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved.”
Norris leaves behind a legacy of toughness that became legendary, inspiring countless fans and shaping action cinema for decades.
His Marriage to Gena O’Kelley
Norris married actress and model Gena O’Kelley in 1998 after meeting her in Dallas the year before. Their relationship blossomed quickly, and Norris described falling “head over heels in love” in his memoir Against All Odds.
O’Kelley appeared in small television roles, including on Walker, Texas Ranger, and supported Norris throughout his career. On their 26th wedding anniversary in 2024, Norris wrote: “You always fill my life with joy, love, and countless wonderful memories.”
Children and Family Life
Norris had five children. With O’Kelley, he welcomed twins Dakota and Danilee in 2001. Now 24, both have shared heartfelt tributes to their father. Danilee recently announced her engagement, while Dakota married last year.
From his first marriage to high school sweetheart Dianne Holechek, Norris had two sons, Mike and Eric. The couple divorced in 1989, and Holechek passed away in December 2025. Norris described her as “incredible, kind, and intelligent,” noting that they remained close friends after their marriage ended.
Norris also had a daughter, Dina, from an affair during his first marriage. He discovered her existence when she was 26, after she wrote him a letter. Norris later said: “I didn’t need DNA or blood tests. There was no doubt in my mind that she was my daughter.”
Tributes from His Children
Both Dakota and Danilee shared emotional posts after his passing. Danilee wrote: “My dad was my protector the moment I was born… I will forever carry on his legacy and shower others in that compassion he so frequently showed.”
Dakota added: “I’m so proud to be your son. The memories we made, the lessons you taught me, and the constant laughs we shared will stay with me for the rest of my life.”
A Lasting Legacy
Beyond his family, Norris’s influence stretched across Hollywood and popular culture. His martial arts discipline, action films, and long-running TV series made him a household name. His toughness became the subject of countless “Chuck Norris Facts,” humorous exaggerations that only added to his mythic status.
