The Season 5 finale of Netflix’s hit romantic dramedy Emily in Paris has reignited speculation about the future of Emily Cooper’s journey abroad — and whether the series will return for another European chapter. Season 5 sent Emily (Lily Collins) to Rome for a whirlwind professional reinvention before planting her firmly back in Paris and leaving audiences with unresolved relationship and career questions. But will Season 6 happen, and where might Emily go next?
A Season 5 Reset Sets Up New Possibilities
Season 5 began with Emily leading the newly launched Agence Grateau Rome and falling into a passionate romance with Italian businessman Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini). The Roman chapter, however, was short-lived. Marcello chose duty to his family business, and Emily prioritized the Parisian life she worked to build. Meanwhile, Agence Grateau narrowly escaped closure when Princess Jane (Minnie Driver) swept in with an unexpected bailout, signaling renewed stability for the firm — and setting the stage for new professional stakes. By the end of the season, Emily’s life is once again in flux: single, back in Paris and faced with fresh choices.
Season 6 Not Confirmed — But Clues Suggest New Destinations
Netflix has not announced a renewal yet, but the finale hinted strongly at a future storyline. One tease stood out: Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), now working on a yacht as a private chef, invited Emily to visit him in Greece during his time off. For longtime fans who rooted for the Emily-Gabriel romance since Season 1, the invitation felt like a restart — and signaled that Season 6 could expand beyond France and Italy. Still, Collins offered careful perspective when speaking to USA TODAY.
“I just like thinking in terms of do we get to go to another season,” she said, adding that what mattered was watching Emily finally make choices for herself.
As for whether Gabriel and Emily are “endgame,” Collins remained cautious:
“Darren [Star] keeps writing things that we’re so shocked about. So we have no idea.”
Mindy Chen (Ashley Park) also sits at a romantic crossroads despite her engagement to Nico (Paul Forman), leaving her story equally open-ended.
Possible Release Window and Returning Cast
If renewed, Season 6 could follow previous release timing, meaning episodes would likely arrive late-2026. For reference, past premieres landed between October and December, with Season 5 debuting December 18, 2025. Cast predictions remain speculative, but core ensemble members are expected to return, including Collins, Bravo, Park and the Agence Grateau team. Marcello’s exit suggests Franceschini may not appear in future episodes, though the show has repeatedly surprised fans with unexpected returns and reinventions.
For Now, Fans Wait
With cliffhanger endings, unresolved romances and possible new European settings, the creative window remains wide open — and fans are eager to follow Emily wherever her next adventure lands. Until renewal news arrives, viewers can stream Seasons 1–5 exclusively on Netflix.
