Steps star Faye Tozer has been confirmed to play three characters in the upcoming UK and Republic of Ireland tour of Mean Girls: The Musical, producers have announced. The production marks the first major touring run of the hit stage adaptation based on the popular 2004 film.
Tozer, 50, will portray two on-stage mothers and a teacher, taking on the roles of Mrs Heron, Mrs George, and Ms Norbury during the tour. The casting highlights her versatility as a performer and adds a familiar face from British pop culture to the production.
Touring Across the UK and Ireland
The tour will visit 19 venues, beginning next year, with Wolverhampton Grand Theatre confirming Tozer’s appearance for performances running from 23 June. Additional stops include major cities such as Manchester, Canterbury, and Blackpool, among others across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
The musical follows the story of teenage outsider Cady Heron, who navigates the social hierarchy of high school after moving to the United States. The stage adaptation is based on the film written by Tina Fey, which originally starred Lindsay Lohan and became a defining teen comedy of the 2000s.
Key Cast Members Announced
Emily Lane has been cast as Cady Heron, while Vivian Panka will take on the role of Regina George, the school’s dominant “queen bee.” Kiara Dario and Sophie Pourret will portray Gretchen Wieners and Karen Smith, respectively.
Tozer’s triple casting places her at the heart of the production, appearing across multiple storylines and providing continuity throughout the show. The roles of the mothers and teacher Ms Norbury are central to the musical’s humor and emotional grounding.
A Growing Theatre Career
Although best known as a member of the chart-topping pop group Steps, Tozer has built a growing reputation in musical theatre and live performance. Steps achieved widespread success in the late 1990s and early 2000s with hits including Tragedy and 5, 6, 7, 8, before reuniting in later years.
More recently, Tozer appeared in the West End production Diamonds and Dust, a burlesque show created by Dita Von Teese and Tosca Rivola, where she played the character Miss Kitty LeRoy. Her continued involvement in stage productions reflects a steady transition from pop stardom to theatrical performance.
Anticipation Builds for the Tour
Producers say the tour aims to bring the high-energy Broadway adaptation to new audiences, blending humor, social commentary, and musical numbers. Mean Girls: The Musical has enjoyed success in London and internationally, with its touring debut expected to attract both theatre fans and film enthusiasts.
With a recognizable cast and a well-known story, the production is positioned as one of the major touring musicals of the year.
