Hollywood legend Harrison Ford will receive the prestigious SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award at next year’s Actor Awards ceremony, the union announced Thursday. The honor will be presented on March 1, 2026, at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards, previously known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The award recognizes career-long achievements and contributions to the acting profession. Ford, 83, joins an elite list of honorees who have left a lasting legacy in film and television.
SAG-AFTRA Praises Ford’s Cultural Impact
“Harrison Ford is a singular presence in American life; an actor whose iconic characters have shaped world culture,” SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin said in a statement. “His career has been endlessly exciting, always returning to his love of acting. We are honored to celebrate a legend whose impact on our craft is indelible.”
Ford expressed gratitude, emphasizing what the recognition means coming from fellow performers.
“I am deeply honored to be chosen as this year’s recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award,” Ford said. “To be acknowledged by my fellow actors means a great deal to me. I’ve spent most of my life on film sets, working alongside incredible actors and crews, and I’ve always felt grateful to be part of this community.”
A Career That Shaped Blockbuster Filmmaking
Ford rose to international fame as Han Solo in Star Wars and cemented himself in the adventure genre as archaeologist Indiana Jones. These characters helped define modern blockbuster filmmaking and remain cultural touchstones decades later.
His filmography spans genres, from sci-fi and thrillers to courtroom dramas and comedies. Ford has starred in:
Blade Runner
The Mosquito Coast
Working Girl
The Fugitive
Frantic
Clear and Present Danger
Presumed Innocent
He earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his role in Peter Weir’s Witness — his only Oscar nomination to date, a detail fans still find surprising given his influence.
Recent Career Highlights
Ford is enjoying a late-career resurgence on television. In 2023 he starred alongside Helen Mirren in the Yellowstone prequel series 1923 on Paramount+, and he earned acclaim for his comedic turn in Apple TV+’s Shrinking, receiving his first career Emmy nomination.
The SAG-AFTRA honor adds to Ford’s growing list of lifetime achievement awards from major organizations, including AFI, the Golden Globes, Critics Choice and Cannes Film Festival.
A Celebrated Career Continues
The March 2026 ceremony is expected to include tributes, archival footage and speeches honoring Ford’s decades of work. With new projects still unfolding, the honor underscores Ford’s sustained presence and influence in Hollywood across multiple generations.
