Harry Styles has released his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally, and one track in particular is fueling speculation about his past relationship with Olivia Wilde. The 11th song, Paint by Numbers, includes lyrics that many fans believe reference Wilde’s children and Styles’ reluctance to step into a stepfather role.
The Lyrics in Question
The verse reads: “You’re the luckiest, oh, the irony / Holding the weight of the American children whose hearts you break / Was it a tragedy when you told her / ‘I’m not even thirty-three’?”
Fans quickly connected the lyrics to Wilde, who shares two children—Otis Alexander (born 2014) and Daisy Josephine (born 2016)—with her ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis.
Relationship Timeline
Styles and Wilde dated from January 2021 to December 2022 after meeting on the set of Don’t Worry Darling. They were often seen together at concerts and public events, appearing deeply connected. However, by late 2022, the relationship ended.
At the time, sources described the split as amicable, citing Styles’ touring schedule and Wilde’s focus on her children and career. Yet, other insiders suggested Wilde was disappointed, believing they could work through their issues.
A New Perspective
With the release of Paint by Numbers, fans are questioning how amicable the breakup truly was. The lyrics suggest Styles may have struggled with the idea of becoming a stepdad, ultimately contributing to the end of their relationship.
Moving On
Today, Styles is reportedly dating Zoe Kravitz, while Wilde has been linked to Caspar Jopling. Despite their breakup, both appear to have moved forward with new relationships and projects. Still, Styles’ latest song has reignited curiosity about what really happened between the former couple.
