Indian Railways: Major Relief for the Middle Class – Here’s What You Need to Know
The Indian Railways network serves as a lifeline for millions of people across the country, especially for those from middle-class and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Addressing Parliament, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reaffirmed that the primary goal of Indian Railways is to support these sections of society. Following this announcement, passengers can expect improved facilities and measures to make travel more convenient and affordable.
Production of 12,000 General Coaches and Additional Trains
The Railway Minister revealed that Indian Railways aims to produce 12,000 general coaches during this financial year, catering to passengers who rely on these coaches for travel. To further ease the travel experience, 900 additional general coaches have already been introduced this year. These measures are especially significant during peak travel periods like Diwali and Chhath, when securing tickets in general coaches becomes challenging.
Focus on Safety and Technological Upgrades
Ashwini Vaishnaw also outlined the steps taken to enhance railway safety and technology. About 1.23 lakh kilometers of outdated tracks have been upgraded with modern technology to improve safety standards. Additionally, new trains like the “Amrit Bharat,” based on the advanced Vande Bharat technology, are being introduced to provide a safer and more comfortable travel experience.
Job Creation and Opportunities for Youth
Indian Railways is also contributing to job creation, with recruitment underway for 58,642 positions. This initiative aims to provide employment opportunities for the youth while supporting the Railways’ continued growth and modernization efforts.
With these developments, Indian Railways is reinforcing its commitment to better serve millions of travelers and improve the overall travel experience for the middle and lower-income groups.
