Jennifer Lopez has shared candid reflections about her divorce from Marc Anthony, calling it a “really tough time” in her life. The 56-year-old star spoke to fans during her Up All Night residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, opening up between songs about the heartbreak she endured following the end of her 10-year marriage in 2014.
Advice That Helped Her Heal
Lopez revealed that she leaned on guidance from late motivational speaker Louise Hay during that difficult period. “I was really about to give up on it all. I was a single mom with two three-year-old twins,” Lopez recalled. Hay encouraged her to keep moving forward by comparing life’s struggles to learning a dance. “She said, ‘When you get the steps wrong, what do you do?’ I said, ‘I just keep going till I get the steps right.’ She said, ‘That’s right, Jennifer. Always keep dancing.’”
Life After Divorce
Lopez shares 18-year-old twins Max and Emme with Anthony. Following their divorce, she rekindled her relationship with actor Ben Affleck, marrying him in 2022 before filing for divorce in 2024. Lopez has also been married to Ojani Noa and Cris Judd, joking to fans that by her third divorce she was “getting really good at it.”
Inspiring Her Audience
During her March 6 performance, Lopez offered the same advice to her audience before launching into her hit Dance Again. “I wish the same for each and every one of you, that no matter what life throws at you, you dance and you dance and you dance, again and again and again,” she told the crowd.
A Message of Resilience
Lopez’s openness about her struggles and resilience resonated with fans, reinforcing her reputation as both a performer and a source of inspiration. Her story highlights the importance of perseverance, even in the face of personal heartbreak.
