Katy Perry has officially confirmed her relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau — and she did it in the most modern way possible: by going Instagram official.
The pop superstar, 41, posted a carousel of photos and videos on Saturday, Dec. 6, offering fans a glimpse into her recent trip to Japan. The post included cozy snapshots with Trudeau, 53, marking their first open acknowledgment as a couple on social media.
A Soft-Launch Turns Official
In one photo, Perry and Trudeau pose cheek-to-cheek in a sweet outdoor selfie. Another clip shows the pair sharing a meal, exchanging affectionate looks, and exploring a sensory art installation together.
“Tokyo times on tour and more ( ◠‿◠ ) 🎄🍣🐡🥞💐☃️♥️,” Perry captioned the post.
The singer is currently overseas for her Lifetimes Tour, and the couple has been spotted at both personal and diplomatic events during the trip.
A Diplomatic Cameo
While in Tokyo, Perry accompanied Trudeau on a diplomatic visit with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko.
Kishida later posted a photo of their meeting, calling Perry Trudeau’s “partner” in his caption.
Trudeau reshared the message, writing:
“Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko. Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.”
A Relationship Months in the Making
Romance rumors began earlier this summer when the duo was seen dining together in Montreal. At the time, Perry had recently separated from actor Orlando Bloom in June, while Trudeau announced his split from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
Sources previously told PEOPLE that Trudeau pursued Perry following their early dates.
“He even flew to California to see her during a tour break,” an insider said. “They have an easy connection.”
The pair made their first public appearance as a couple on Oct. 25 in Paris, celebrating Perry’s birthday at the iconic Crazy Horse cabaret, where they were photographed holding hands.
What’s Next for the Couple
Neither has commented publicly beyond social posts, but fans and media outlets are already calling them one of the most unexpected celebrity pairings of the year.
With Perry continuing her world tour and Trudeau expanding his international engagements after leaving office, observers believe the couple is likely to remain in the spotlight through 2026.
For now, though, Perry’s Instagram confirms what many suspected: it’s official — and serious enough to share with the world.
