Kim Cattrall has tied the knot. The Sex and the City icon, 69, married her longtime partner Russell Thomas, 55, on December 4, 2025, during an intimate ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London. The wedding included just 12 close friends and family members, marking a private and emotional milestone nearly a decade into their relationship.
A Surprise Wedding After Nine Years Together
Fans were delighted — and surprised — by the news, as the couple had not publicly announced an engagement. Cattrall wore a sleek Dior suit with a modern bridal edge, while Thomas opted for a custom suit by British designer Richard James. The newlyweds were seen smiling and holding hands as they exited the historic venue.
The actress, beloved for her role as Samantha Jones, has spoken openly about the depth and effort behind their relationship. “It’s not easy,” she shared in a 2023 episode of The New York Times’ Modern Love podcast. “People feel that it just happens and you’re lucky… but the work is just begun. It’s good work.”
How Kim & Russell First Met
The couple met in 2016 when Cattrall appeared on BBC Radio’s Woman’s Hour, where Thomas was working as an audio engineer. They exchanged messages afterward, and Thomas later traveled to Vancouver to see her — a leap of faith that turned into a lasting partnership.
“We got along great and we’ve been together ever since,” Cattrall told PEOPLE.
Navigating Long Distance and Lockdowns
For several years, their relationship was long-distance between the U.K. and North America. But during the COVID-19 pandemic, they decided to quarantine together at Cattrall’s home in Vancouver — a period that strengthened their bond.
“We’ve gotten to know each other intimately,” she told Extra in 2020. “We love each other, and we have a deep connection.”
A Partner Who “Was Worth Waiting For”
Cattrall has described Thomas as supportive, witty, and grounded. “He’s a firecracker with a wicked sense of humor,” she said, adding that their shared British roots helped forge a natural bond.
The couple also enjoys simple daily rituals, including starting every morning with tea — milk but no sugar — which Cattrall affectionately calls “very British.”
Moving Forward With Joy
After three previous marriages, Cattrall says she is finally in the right place. “He was worth waiting for,” she said in a prior interview. The newlyweds are expected to split time between London and Canada as Cattrall continues her work on screen.
The marriage marks a new chapter for the actress, who returned to the Sex and the City revival And Just Like That with a cameo in 2024, thrilling longtime fans.
