Luke Grimes, star of Yellowstone and its spinoff Marshals, has traded Los Angeles for Montana. The actor, who spent 16 years in Hollywood, relocated with his wife Bianca Rodrigues Grimes and their son after falling in love with the state’s slower pace of life. But while Grimes enjoys the peace and quiet, not all locals have welcomed him with open arms.
Confrontations With Locals
Speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience, Grimes revealed that some Montana residents have reacted negatively to newcomers. He recalled one incident when friends visiting from California returned to their car to find “go back” written in the dust on their license plate.
Grimes admitted he avoids public spaces to prevent confrontations. “I can’t go to bars there anymore ‘cause whatever that one idiot is, is at the bar, and he can’t wait to start a fight with me,” he said. “It’s a lose-lose for me.”
No Regrets About Leaving Los Angeles
Despite the tensions, Grimes insists he has no regrets. “I have no FOMO about anything anymore,” he explained. “I can just think and sleep and read and watch films and it’s the best.”
He described the move as a gradual shift, saying he and his wife slowly fell in love with Montana before deciding to settle there permanently.
Family Life in Montana
Grimes and Bianca married in 2019 and welcomed their son in October 2024. The actor says the family enjoys the simplicity of country living, far removed from the pressures of Hollywood.
Career Update
Grimes rose to fame as Kayce Dutton in Yellowstone. He now stars in Marshals, which premiered March 1. The series follows Kayce as he leaves the Yellowstone ranch to join an elite team of U.S. Marshals. While his new life in Montana comes with challenges, Grimes remains committed to the lifestyle, embracing the quiet and focusing on family and work.
