Marciano Brunette Sues Demi Engemann Over Sexual Assault Allegations

Reality TV personality Marciano Brunette, known for appearing on Hulu’s “Vanderpump Villa,” has filed a defamation lawsuit against Demi Engemann and the production company behind “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” Brunette alleges that Engemann and producers damaged his reputation by broadcasting sexual assault accusations on the show. The complaint, filed by Brunette’s legal team Dynamis LLP, claims that Engemann and Jeff Jenkins Productions falsely labeled him a “sexual predator” and accused him of sexual assault during Season 3 of the series. Brunette denies the accusations and argues that the claims were presented publicly in a manner intended to harm his character and career.

Brunette Says Encounter Was Consensual

According to the lawsuit, Brunette asserts that his interaction with Engemann took place while filming Season 2 of “Vanderpump Villa” in Italy in August 2024, and that their contact was consensual. His attorney states that the two flirted, spent time privately, and shared a consensual kiss, and that they continued friendly communication for months afterward. The legal filing claims that texts, calls, and FaceTime interactions between the pair demonstrate “warmth and familiarity, not fear or avoidance,” contradicting the later allegations.

Complaint Alleges Accusations Were Later “Reframed”

The lawsuit alleges that Engemann—who is married—reframed the consensual encounter as misconduct and later as sexual assault following public criticism regarding her behavior on the show. Brunette claims that Engemann’s statements were intended to protect her reputation and gain leverage within the narrative of the series.

The complaint also alleges that Engemann suggested additional accusers would “come forward,” portraying Brunette as dangerous and discrediting anyone who questioned her account.

Producers Accused of Amplifying Claims for Drama

In addition to Engemann, the suit targets Jeff Jenkins Productions, accusing the studio of amplifying and republishing the accusations for dramatic impact. Brunette claims the production team built entire storylines around the allegations and aired the statements without giving him a meaningful chance to respond.

The legal filing further asserts that producers allegedly had reasons to question Engemann’s version of events, citing what they describe as inconsistencies and delayed reporting, but proceeded anyway for narrative value.

Seeking Damages and Injunction

Brunette claims the public allegations caused mental anguish, reputational damage, loss of income and emotional distress. He is requesting both financial damages and a court injunction to prevent Engemann or Jeff Jenkins Productions from repeating the statements.

Representatives for Hulu, Engemann, and Jeff Jenkins Productions have not yet issued public comment.

The lawsuit arrives as reality television continues to face increased scrutiny regarding ethics, fabrication of storylines, and possible exploitation of cast members for ratings.

As the case moves forward, additional filings and responses are expected. No court dates have been publicly announced.
