The Latin music community is mourning the loss of Maria de la Rosa, a rising 22-year-old artist who was killed in an ambush-style shooting in Northridge, California early Saturday morning.
Details of the Attack
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Bryant Street, just east of Tampa Avenue. Two male suspects approached a parked vehicle and opened fire.
Three occupants inside the car were struck by gunfire. De la Rosa was rushed to a hospital by private transport but later died from her injuries. The two other victims remain in critical condition. Their identities have not been released.
A Promising Career Cut Short
De la Rosa was an emerging talent in Latin music. She released her single “No Me Llames” in August and had been working on new material. Her Instagram, followed by more than 40,000 fans, hinted at upcoming projects, with her final post captioned: “Busy cooking in the studio.”
