Mariah Carey Responds
Carey expressed gratitude for the tribute, saying: “I’m deeply honored to have these extraordinary artists come together for this evening. Their generosity, their presence, and their commitment to this moment mean more to me than I can express. Being part of this celebration in benefit of MusiCares and the support they provide to those in the music community makes this night even more special. I’ve always believed that music heals, and it’s meant to be shared.”
Supporting MusiCares
The Person of the Year gala is one of MusiCares’ most important annual fundraisers. The evening includes a live auction, cocktail reception, dinner, and musical performances across two stages. Proceeds benefit MusiCares programs that provide mental health support, financial assistance, and career sustainability resources for music professionals. Theresa Wolters, executive director of MusiCares, emphasized the impact of Carey’s artistry: “Mariah Carey’s music has touched the hearts of millions and inspired countless artists. It will be thrilling to hear these performers bring their own voices to her landmark songs, offering fresh interpretations that celebrate her artistry in new ways.”
A Grammy Week Tradition
The gala takes place two nights before the Grammy Awards, continuing a long-standing tradition of honoring influential artists during music’s biggest week. With Carey’s unmatched vocal legacy and the eclectic lineup of performers, the 2026 Person of the Year tribute is expected to be one of the highlights of Grammy season.
