Marvel Rivals is leveling up in a massive way. Developer NetEase Games, in collaboration with Marvel Games, has confirmed that Season 5 of the popular hero-based multiplayer brawler will officially launch on November 14, 2025 — and it’s bringing the power couple of the X-Men, Gambit and Rogue, to the roster for the very first time.
This update marks the first anniversary of the game’s global debut, introducing major balance changes, fresh Team-Ups, and the most ambitious mode yet — a massive 18v18 Conquest Annihilation battle.
Gambit and Rogue Lead the Season 5 Roster
The card-slinging Gambit joins as the newest Strategist Hero, combining kinetic charge attacks with team-based support abilities — the first of his class since Ultron’s debut. His kinetic bombs and energy-charged melee attacks make him a deadly mix of style and substance.
In December, Gambit will be joined by Rogue in the mid-season 5.5 update. True to her comic origins, Rogue will feature power-absorption mechanics, letting players temporarily mimic other heroes’ abilities — potentially redefining team compositions across all modes.
The duo’s arrival marks the first time Gambit and Rogue appear together in a Marvel multiplayer title.
Balance Updates, Team-Ups & New Features
The new patch delivers extensive buffs and nerfs to improve hero synergy.
Key buffs include The Thing, Hulk, Captain America, Peni Parker, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Loki, and Cloak & Dagger — with Captain America’s Ultimate now boosting teammates’ energy charge rate.
New Team-Up abilities include:
Explosive Entanglement – Gambit + Magneto
Sword of Duality – Cloak & Dagger + Hawkeye
Blade of Khonshu – Moon Knight + Blade
Meanwhile, several older combos like Lunar Force are being retired to streamline balance.
New Map, Game Mode, and Anniversary Rewards
Players can now explore a Times Square social hub that supports up to 100 players for emotes and interactions. On November 27, fans will receive 2,500 Units and an exclusive Legendary Business Jeff skin to celebrate the one-year milestone.
Season 5 also adds cross-progression support, ensuring players can sync progress across all platforms.
Competitive & PvE Roadmap
A new Competitive Placement System replaces seasonal resets, with rank determined by ten placement matches. Future PvE expansions — following the success of Marvel Zombies — are already in development for 2026.
With Gambit’s flair, Rogue’s power mimicry, and a fully rebalanced roster, Marvel Rivals Season 5 is shaping up to be the game’s most explosive update yet.
