Meghan McCain Fires Back After Tucker Carlson Guest Calls Her “Fat”

Meghan McCain is speaking out after she was mocked for her appearance during an episode of The Tucker Carlson Show. The former View co-host and political commentator responded publicly after guest Milo Yiannopoulos referred to her as “fat” and used a homophobic slur during a discussion about her late father, Senator John McCain.

The incident took place on the Wednesday, December 3 episode of Carlson’s podcast, where Yiannopoulos derisively referred to McCain as the Arizona senator’s “fat friend” and called her a “f** hag.” Yiannopoulos also mocked McCain’s mental health and appearance, prompting widespread criticism online.

On Thursday, December 4, McCain, 41 — who is nearly nine months pregnant with her third child — posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter), addressing the comments directly.

Meghan McCain Responds: “I Am Very Fat — Because I’m Pregnant”

“I am aware on the most recent episode of Tucker Carlson’s show, a subject of conversation with his guest was my weight — particularly how fat I am,” McCain wrote.

She continued with a pointed message:
“I am very fat. I am almost 9 months pregnant with my third child. I am also very happy.”

McCain called out Carlson’s repeated claims about Christianity and morality, accusing him of failing to uphold those values.

“I don’t care how many times Tucker talks about being a Christian, that is not Christian behavior to engage in such a conversation on one of the largest podcasts in the world,” she wrote. “This kind of meanness to women and hypocrisy is a classic example of why the right has such a problem with women voters of my generation.”

McCain Says She Won’t Be Intimidated

The daughter of the late senator also emphasized that this criticism is nothing new.

“Don’t feel bad for me — people have been calling me fat since I started in media at age 22,” she wrote. “It is old, lazy, tired.”

McCain added that she refuses to build a career on attacking others, writing:
“I don’t make my living off of ugliness like that and truly can’t fathom what life is like for anyone who does. It must be very dark.”

Recent Pregnancy Update

McCain recently shared an Instagram photo celebrating her growing baby bump, writing “8 months bumping along!” She and husband Ben Domenech share two daughters — Liberty, 5, and Clover, 2 — and are expecting their first son.
