Actor Mickey Rourke has reportedly been evicted from his Los Angeles residence following a court judgment entered by default.
Court Decision
According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, the ruling was made after Rourke failed to respond to a complaint or defend himself in court. The judgment returned possession of the Drexel Avenue property to landlord Eric T. Goldie, who had previously demanded $59,100 in back rent.
The court’s decision was limited to “possession only,” meaning Goldie regained control of the property but was not awarded financial damages. The rental agreement was canceled, and Rourke’s lease forfeited, leaving him without legal rights to occupy the home.
Timeline of Events
In December, filings ordered Rourke to pay the outstanding rent or vacate the property within three days. By January, the Sin City star was seen moving out of the home. Around the same time, a GoFundMe campaign surfaced online, claiming to support Rourke.
Rourke’s Response
The 73-year-old actor quickly distanced himself from the fundraiser, clarifying on Instagram that he had no involvement. “That’s not me, okay? I’d rather, if I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f***ing charity,” Rourke said. He expressed frustration and confusion over the campaign, insisting he would never seek outside financial help.
Rourke added, “I wouldn’t know what a GoFundMe foundation is in a million years. My life is very simple, I wouldn’t go to outside sources like that.”
Career and Legacy
Best known for films such as Angel Heart and The Wrestler, Rourke has had a turbulent career marked by comebacks and personal struggles. His eviction underscores ongoing challenges but also highlights his determination to maintain independence. While the court case has closed, Rourke’s candid remarks reflect his defiant spirit — a hallmark of his decades-long career in Hollywood.
