Netflix has announced a new adult animated comedy series, Living the Dream, set in London and featuring One Day star Ambika Mod. The eight-part series, produced by Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe and Ireland’s Boulder Media, follows best friends Des and Ray as they navigate life at a socially conscious but low-paying company. Created by BAFTA-nominated George Gendi, known for Gumball and Apple & Onion, the show explores workplace humor, romantic misadventures, and family conflicts. Voice actors include Javone Prince, Tom Stourton, Ellie White, Chris Diamantopoulos, Stavros Halkias, and Julia Davis. Executive producers are Sam Register, Sarah Fell, and Daniel Lennard.

Series Overview

Living the Dream follows Des and Ray, “a couple of really cool guys from London who should have made it big by now but haven’t.” Instead, they work at Ecofood, a company focused on social media campaigns for environmental initiatives. Episodes depict awkward workplace romance, HR blunders, and interference from Ray’s father. The writing team includes George Gendi, Phoebe Walsh, Ellie White, Joe Parnham, and Joe Markham.

Cast and Crew

The voice cast features Gendi, Javone Prince, Tom Stourton, Ellie White, Chris Diamantopoulos, Stavros Halkias, Julia Davis, and Ambika Mod. Executive producers Sam Register, Sarah Fell, and Daniel Lennard bring extensive experience from Looney Tunes Cartoons, Teen Titans Go!, and The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball.

Creator Insights

Gendi commented on the premise, saying: “If living the dream is being asked for a quote for a press release and then trying to make it cheeky countless times, then I’ve made it. Anyway, let’s see if they let me use this one.” Analysts note that the series combines the visual comedy of Gumball with adult British humor, positioning it as a fresh addition to Netflix’s animation slate.

Industry Impact

Living the Dream strengthens Netflix’s growing portfolio of adult animated series. With a strong ensemble cast, experienced production team, and workplace-centered comedy, it could attract young adult audiences and fans of British humor, differentiating itself from other animated content in the streaming market.

Upcoming Plans

Netflix has not announced an official release date, though late 2025 or early 2026 is expected. Marketing campaigns, trailers, and behind-the-scenes content are likely to be released in the months leading up to the premiere. Episodes are expected to be released weekly.
