Corey Harrison, known from Pawn Stars, was recently involved in a serious motorcycle accident in Tulum, Mexico. His friend Aron Chambers launched a GoFundMe campaign, claiming Corey had “emptied his entire bank account” to cover medical bills exceeding $100,000. The fundraiser described Corey’s injuries, including 11 fractured ribs, a punctured lung, a concussion, and internal bleeding, along with multiple surgeries and hospital stays.
Rick Harrison’s Response
Rick Harrison, Corey’s father and Pawn Stars co-star, has contradicted those claims. He told TMZ that he had already paid off Corey’s medical bills before the GoFundMe was created. “As far as I know, I paid all of Corey’s medical bills long before he put the GoFundMe out,” Rick said. He added that Corey, now in his 40s, is responsible for managing his own finances.
Corey’s Perspective
Corey acknowledged that Rick had covered at least half of the expenses and said he intended to pay his father back. “I love my dad to death, but he doesn’t give me s*. My dad’s made me work for everything my whole life,” Corey explained. He also noted that if Rick decided repayment wasn’t necessary, he would accept that, though he doubted it would be the case given their personal and business relationship.
The Fundraiser’s Status
Despite Rick’s statements, Chambers maintained that Corey was still struggling financially, citing unpaid rent, ongoing medical costs, and the need for future travel back to the United States for recovery. The GoFundMe initially set a goal of $100,000 but later adjusted to $18,000. As of now, supporters have donated just over $8,800.
A Family Disagreement in Public
The conflicting accounts between Corey and Rick have drawn attention, highlighting both the challenges of medical debt abroad and the complexities of family dynamics under public scrutiny. While Corey continues his recovery, fans and supporters remain divided over whether the fundraiser is necessary given Rick’s financial support.
