Prime Video highlights anime, Korean dramas, and Indian originals in 2026 showcase.

Prime Video is doubling down on global storytelling. This week, the streaming giant held a showcase highlighting its slate of international original content, ranging from anime reboots to Korean thrillers and Indian dramas.

Expanding Global Reach

The event opened with a teaser reel underscoring Prime Video’s commitment to originality. Stars and creators including Stanley Tucci, Nicole Wallace, Park Min-young, Wi Hajun, Dolores Fonzi, Alia Bhatt, and author Mercedes Ron joined interviews to discuss their upcoming projects. International titles have consistently topped Prime Video’s charts, and the platform is now investing heavily in diverse stories that resonate worldwide.

Anime Renaissance

Anime is a major focus for 2026. Prime Video announced exclusive global rights to Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken, produced by TMS Entertainment. The reboot blends cutting-edge CGI with hand-drawn animation, aiming to deliver a fresh yet faithful take on the beloved series. Other anime properties like Ghost in the Shell and From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman II are also set to headline.

Literary Adaptations

Prime Video is adapting Spanish author Mercedes Ron’s latest book, marking her first U.S. adaptation. The platform is also tapping into Wattpad’s online storytelling community, with Love Me, Love Me and Perfect Liars — the latter boasting 140 million reads — being developed into series.

Korean Originals

Korean dramas continue to drive global viewership. Following hits like Marry My Husband and No Gain No Love, Prime Video unveiled new titles including:

  • Absolute Value of Romance, a meta romantic comedy starring Kim Hyang Gi and K-pop idols.
  • Human x Gumiho (working title), a supernatural romance led by Jun Ji Hyun and Ji Chang Wook.
  • Siren’s Kiss, a psychological thriller starring Park Min-young and Wi Hajun.

Indian Originals

India also took center stage with Don’t Be Shy, a young-adult coming-of-age drama written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji and produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions.

Global Strategy

Gaurav Gandhi, Vice President of APAC & ANZ at Prime Video, emphasized the importance of international storytelling: “Content from Japan, Korea, and India is emerging as a powerful cultural force in global entertainment, driven by emotionally authentic stories that resonate far beyond their home markets.”

Prime Video confirmed that all films and series will be available in over 30 languages, with up to 36 subtitled and 22 dubbed options, across 240 countries and territories. With anime, literature, and international dramas leading the charge, Prime Video’s 2026 slate reflects a bold strategy to dominate global streaming through diverse, culturally rich storytelling.
