Rebecca Gayheart is honoring her late husband, actor Eric Dane, with a heartfelt tribute one month after his passing. Dane, best known for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, died on February 19 at age 53, less than a year after revealing his ALS diagnosis.
A Family’s Loss
Dane’s family confirmed he spent his final days surrounded by loved ones, including Gayheart and their daughters, Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14. On March 18, Gayheart shared an emotional Instagram post featuring a montage of family photos. “There are no words. All our love forever — your girls ,” she wrote, dedicating the tribute to Dane.
The collection included intimate snapshots of their life together, baby pictures of their daughters, and moments with friends such as Ellen Pompeo and James Van Der Beek, who tragically died just days before Dane.
Support From Hollywood
In a recent interview, Gayheart expressed gratitude for the support she and her daughters have received. “People have been holding me and the girls up the last two weeks, and I don’t think they’re going anywhere,” she said. “Hollywood gets a bad rap, but we have a lovely community of people, and I’m so grateful for them.”
A Complicated Love Story
Gayheart and Dane married in 2003 but separated in 2018. Following his ALS diagnosis, she dismissed her divorce petition in 2025 and became one of his primary caregivers. In a December essay, she described their relationship as “complicated,” noting that while their love was no longer romantic, it remained deeply familial.
Dane’s Advocacy
Even as his health declined, Dane spoke openly about ALS, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness. At a panel in December 2025, he said, “It’s imperative that I share my journey with as many people as I can because I don’t feel like my life is about me anymore.” He urged action to improve the landscape for ALS research and treatment.
Legacy Remembered
Dane’s openness about his illness and his devotion to family left a lasting impact. Gayheart’s tribute underscores the enduring love she and their daughters hold for him, ensuring his legacy continues to resonate both within Hollywood and beyond.
