Collins, 75, is a standout nominee. Known for hits like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds, his music has found new audiences in recent years. Despite health struggles—including multiple surgeries and a need for a live-in nurse—Collins has expressed interest in returning to the studio. His nomination highlights both his enduring influence and resilience.
Shakira’s Global Impact
Shakira’s nomination is particularly significant. Latin American representation in the Hall of Fame remains rare, with only three inductees out of more than 1,000 born in the region. Her inclusion reflects her global success and cultural impact, from Whenever, Wherever to Hips Don’t Lie.
Wu-Tang Clan and Hip-Hop Debate
Wu-Tang Clan’s nomination comes amid ongoing debate about hip-hop’s place in the Hall of Fame. Kiss bassist Gene Simmons recently criticized the inclusion of rap artists, but Wu-Tang’s influence on music and culture makes them a strong contender.
What Happens Next
A panel of voters will select between six and eight inductees from the list. The final names will be revealed in April, with the induction ceremony scheduled for autumn in Cleveland, Ohio.
