Taylor Frankie Paul is opening up about her relationship status with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen as both face an ongoing domestic assault investigation.
No Contact Arrangement
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star revealed on March 17 that she and Mortensen currently have “no contact.” Instead, the pair use a third party to handle communication, including child pick-ups and drop-offs. Paul explained that this decision was made “a few weeks ago” and is “the best case” scenario given the circumstances.
Family at the Center
Paul shares a 1-year-old son, Ever, with Mortensen, as well as daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5, with ex-husband Tate Paul. She emphasized that her priority is protecting her children and avoiding unnecessary public drama.
Relationship Struggles
At a press event ahead of the premiere of The Bachelorette, Paul described her relationship with Mortensen as an “addictive cycle.” She admitted that while the dynamic was difficult, breaking away was necessary. “Clearly it’s just not to a point of us getting along, so I wanted to take the best action I could,” she said.
Past Legal Issues
This isn’t the first time Paul has faced scrutiny. In 2023, she was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after allegedly throwing a chair during an argument with Mortensen. The incident reportedly injured her daughter. Paul later pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in abeyance, meaning the charge will be dismissed if she complies with court conditions.
Moving Forward
Despite the controversy, Paul remains focused on her career. She is starring in the latest season of The Bachelorette, premiering March 22, and says joining the show was an “immediate yes.” She hopes the opportunity will allow her to move past the “toxicity” of her past and embrace new beginnings.
