The Cure have officially announced the release of their new concert film, “The Show of a Lost World,” capturing a full-length live performance of their latest album, Songs of a Lost World. Directed by longtime collaborator Nick Wickham, the film will premiere worldwide in theaters on December 11, 2025, for a limited run. Tickets will be available starting November 20, with fans able to sign up online for early access and details.
The concert film documents The Cure’s intimate performance at the Troxy nightclub in London, marking the first and only live showcase of their 2024 album Songs of a Lost World.
Directed by Nick Wickham, known for his work with Madonna and Shakira, the film presents a recut, remixed, and 4K remastered version of the original 31-song set. Frontman Robert Smith personally oversaw a new surround sound mix, enhancing the immersive experience.
The release celebrates the band’s return to live recording after more than a decade, giving fans an exclusive inside look at one of their most acclaimed shows.
Creative Vision and Quotes
In a statement accompanying the release, Robert Smith described the project as “a full-circle moment for The Cure’s fans and the music we’ve created since the beginning.”
Director Nick Wickham added that the concert’s raw intensity and emotional weight made it “one of the most powerful live experiences” he has ever filmed.
The film also includes a five-song tribute to the 45th anniversary of Seventeen Seconds, featuring classics such as “A Forest” and “At Night,” alongside enduring hits like “Boys Don’t Cry” and “Pictures of You.”
Why It Matters
The release of The Show of a Lost World underscores The Cure’s continued relevance across generations. Their decision to premiere the concert film in cinemas rather than on streaming platforms highlights a growing trend of live music returning to theaters as event experiences.
Following the success of Songs of a Lost World and its companion remix album featuring Chino Moreno, Paul Oakenfold, and Four Tet, this film reinforces The Cure’s position as pioneers of the gothic rock genre.
What’s Next for The Cure
In addition to the film’s release, The Cure will embark on a major outdoor tour across the U.K. and Ireland in summer 2026, including appearances at Isle of Wight, Primavera Sound, Nova Rock, and Rock en Seine festivals.
A Blu-Ray/DVD and digital version of The Show of a Lost World is scheduled for late December 2025, ensuring fans worldwide can relive the performance in full cinematic quality.
