Kandi Burruss is setting the record straight after fans questioned why her ex Todd Tucker was missing from a family photo she posted on Thanksgiving. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, 49, recently confirmed that she filed for divorce from Tucker after 11 years of marriage — but says the pair still spent the holiday together with their children. On Nov. 28, Burruss shared a festive image on Instagram featuring her children — Riley, 23, Ace, 9, and Blaze, 6 — along with Tucker’s daughter Kaela, from a previous relationship. The smiling group posed in holiday attire, appearing relaxed and cheerful for the celebration. However, the comments section was immediately filled with questions about Tucker’s absence, leading Burruss to respond directly.
Burruss initially captioned the post, “Happy Thanksgiving! I truly enjoyed my day with my fam. I hope you enjoyed yours! Now I feel stuffed like a turkey & need to lay down.” The message sparked positivity, but also curiosity about whether Tucker was excluded intentionally following the divorce announcement.
Burruss Speaks on the Split and Her Priorities Moving Forward
On Nov. 21, PEOPLE exclusively revealed that Burruss had filed for divorce. In a statement to the publication, she emphasized her focus on healing and co-parenting respectfully. Burruss also expressed appreciation for the support she and Tucker received throughout their relationship and asked for privacy for the sake of her children.
“I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family and my own growth,” she continued. “I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for grace as we navigate this transition.”
Sometimes Things Just Don’t Work Out
Following the news, Burruss discussed the breakup further during a Nov. 24 Amazon Live stream, where she confirmed she had officially filed on the 21st. The singer, actress, producer, and reality star said that despite attempts to work things out, the couple ultimately chose to separate. Burruss and Tucker married in 2014 in a lavish televised wedding special. Their relationship was heavily documented on RHOA, from business collaborations to parenting challenges to ongoing family dynamics. They welcomed son Ace via IVF and daughter Blaze via surrogate. Even now, Burruss says their priority is maintaining stability for their children and modeling healthy co-parenting.
