Luke Grimes is enjoying fatherhood while stepping back into his role as Kayce Dutton in the Yellowstone universe. The actor and musician, 42, welcomed his first child with wife Bianca Rodrigues Grimes in October 2024, and he recently shared how his son reacts to seeing him in costume.
Family Life on Set
During the premiere of his new CBS series Marshals in Los Angeles, Grimes told PEOPLE that his wife and son spent much of the filming period with him in Utah. “They were with me the entire time,” he explained. “They basically moved to Park City for the entire shoot. They were five minutes from the sound stage, so they would come all the time.”
Having his family nearby made the long production schedule easier. Bianca and their son often visited the set, giving Grimes a chance to balance work and parenting.
A Baby’s Amusement
Grimes revealed that his son finds his cowboy hat particularly entertaining. “My son thinks my cowboy hat is really funny,” he said. “He doesn’t understand why I have that big thing on my head, but he loves it. He’s very excited when he got to come to stage.”
The couple has chosen to keep their son’s name private, but they have shared glimpses of their family life on social media. Bianca announced his birth in October 2024 with a heartfelt Instagram post: “Welcome to the world little man .” A week later, she shared another photo captioned, “And then there were 3 .”
Fatherhood Perspective
Grimes previously opened up about how becoming a father has changed him. “I think people talk about your heart expanding a little bit every day, and it’s so true,” he said shortly after his son’s birth. “It’s like there’s a love growing inside of me that I didn’t know I was capable of, and it’s incredible and it’s scary because you have so much more skin in the game.”
That love and perspective now accompany him as he takes on new projects, including Marshals, which premieres March 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
Balancing Career and Family
For Grimes, the joy of fatherhood blends seamlessly with his career. His son’s laughter at the cowboy hat is a reminder that even in the midst of Hollywood productions, family moments remain the most meaningful.
