“There were proper conversations around a timeframe when it could be possible,” Winslet said. “And so I think we probably will do it, and that’s the first time I’ve felt that.”

Winslet went a step further by offering a tentative production window. According to her comments, a second season would not begin filming in 2026, but instead could realistically start the following year.
“It wouldn’t actually be this year,” she explained. “I reckon it would end up being 2027 to film it. There’s a strong likelihood it would film sometime in 2027.”
While that timeline means fans still have a long wait ahead, it marks the most concrete progress the project has seen since its original run.
What Could Season 2 Look Like?
If Mare of Easttown does return, the biggest creative question remains: what story would Season 2 tell?
