North West, the 12-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has debuted a striking new manicure that’s already sparking conversation online. On March 12, she shared photos of her nails painted in a shimmering blue shade and decorated with silver spikes and hoop rings, mimicking piercing jewelry.
Fashion Meets Music
The manicure also featured the text “North-chan” written in Japanese, a nod to lyrics from her song Bomb, recorded with her father Kanye and sister Chicago. The set was created by nail artists Akemi Santiago and Noehmi Saldaña, whom North tagged in her Instagram Stories.
Piercings and Self-Expression
North’s love for piercings has been a recurring theme in her style. Last year, she revealed finger piercings that drew criticism, later responding with a track titled Piercing on My Hand (Ye Version). She has since posted images of additional piercings on her hands and face, reinforcing her commitment to bold self-expression.
Confidence Amid Criticism
Despite ongoing scrutiny, North has remained unfazed. Both she and her mother have addressed the backlash, calling her tattoos, piercings, and grills a “non-issue.” Kim Kardashian praised her daughter’s maturity on the Call Her Daddy podcast, saying North is “really confident” and able to brush off negativity.
Parenting and Expression
On Khloé Kardashian’s podcast earlier this year, Kim clarified misconceptions about her parenting style. “Northy actually has a lot of rules,” she explained, adding that fashion is one area where she allows her daughter freedom.
Building a Brand
That freedom may soon extend into business. In January, Kim filed trademarks under the name “NOR11,” covering clothing, accessories, and cosmetics. The move suggests North’s bold style could evolve into a commercial brand in the near future. North West’s piercing-inspired nails are the latest example of her unapologetic approach to fashion, proving she’s carving out her own identity in the spotlight.
