Taylor Swift is celebrating another career milestone as her single Opalite soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The track, featured on her twelfth studio album The Life of a Showgirl, marks her 14th number-one hit and has left the superstar “bouncing off the walls” with excitement.
A Record-Breaking Moment
On Monday, Swift shared her joy on Instagram, posting behind-the-scenes clips from the recording sessions with producers Max Martin and Shellback. “Just a few Opalite memories to celebrate the Hot 100 #1 you guys just got this song!!” she captioned the post. “I can’t even sum up my excitement and I’m so blown away by the love you’ve shown this song and video.”
This achievement is particularly meaningful for Swift, as it marks the first time she has scored two Billboard Hot 100 number ones from the same album since 1989 in 2014. The album’s lead single, The Fate of Ophelia, also topped the chart earlier this year.
Gratitude to Fans
Swift expressed heartfelt thanks to her fans, noting that their support made the milestone possible. “I know that’s a lot of numbers but it all adds up to me being so thankful to the fans who helped make this happen by welcoming this song into your lives with open arms,” she wrote. “Seriously bouncing off the walls about this!!”
She even joked about celebrating with a giant pretzel at the mall, referencing a playful moment from the Opalite music video.
The Opalite Music Video
Shot on film, the video tells the story of two lonely individuals who fall in love after using an “Opalite” potion. Swift stars alongside actor Domhnall Gleeson, with appearances from Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi, and Graham Norton. The video also features a cameo from Cillian Murphy, who joined the ensemble after appearing with the cast on The Graham Norton Show last October.
Continuing Her Legacy
With Opalite topping the charts, Swift further cements her status as one of the most successful artists of her generation. Her ability to blend storytelling, cinematic visuals, and chart-topping music continues to resonate with fans worldwide.
