Newly released court documents reveal unexpected details about an encounter between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively in 2022, now central to Lively’s ongoing lawsuit connected to the film It Ends With Us. According to a deposition obtained by PEOPLE, Baldoni confirmed under oath that he volunteered personal anatomical information to Lively during a conversation at her New York City home — while she was pregnant and surrounded by family and staff.
The Jane the Virgin star testified that the interaction occurred in December 2022, when he visited Lively’s apartment while she was expecting her son, Olin. During the deposition in October, Lively’s attorney Michael J. Gottlieb questioned Baldoni about whether circumcision was discussed, including if he revealed his own status.
When asked directly, Gottlieb said, “Did you at any point share with Ms. Lively whether you were circumcised?” Baldoni responded: “Yes.”
Pressed on whether Lively requested the information, Baldoni answered: “Directly, no.”
Conversation Allegedly Occurred in a Crowded Room
The court filing states Baldoni described the moment as chaotic, with numerous people moving in and out of the space, including Ryan Reynolds, two nannies, household staff and personal assistants.
“There were people going all around… Mr. Reynolds was in and out of the conversation… Her and I were sitting on the couch, but there were people all around,” Baldoni said in the deposition.
He also stated that he does not typically discuss such personal matters:
“I don’t talk about my genitalia, so no,” he responded when asked if he had shared similar information with other colleagues.
Part of Larger Legal Battle
Lively expanded her original complaint in January, alleging Baldoni had made her feel uncomfortable on-set and referencing the circumcision conversation as an example. She claims Baldoni “described his own genitalia” and that the exchange contributed to a pattern of behavior she found inappropriate.
The dispute centers on production issues surrounding the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestseller It Ends With Us, in which Baldoni served as director and starred opposite Lively.
Baldoni’s attorneys filed a motion for summary judgment in November asking the court to dismiss the case ahead of the scheduled March 2026 trial, arguing Lively’s claims lack legal grounds. On Thursday, Lively’s lawyers submitted their opposition, urging the judge to move the matter forward.
Baldoni Wants Public Vindication
His attorney Bryan Freedman previously said the actor is eager to clear his name:
“He knows what he’s done; he knows what he hasn’t done. He wants the truth to come out… He’s waiting for his day in court.”
Neither Lively nor Reynolds has commented publicly on the newly revealed details.
