Ray J has delivered a sobering health update, telling fans he has only months to live after a near-fatal hospitalization earlier this month. The 45-year-old singer, born William Ray Norwood Jr., was rushed to a Las Vegas emergency room with severe heart pains and pneumonia. Following treatment, he revealed his heart is functioning at just 25 percent.
Heart at 25 Percent
In a message shared after returning home, Ray J admitted his health is fragile. “My heart’s only beating 25 percent, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right,” he said. He thanked fans for their prayers, adding: “Just almost died!! I’m alive because of your prayers.”
Doctors Warn of Limited Time
During an Instagram Live session, Ray J claimed doctors told him he has only months left to live. “2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” he said. “My health is not OK.” The singer attributed his condition to years of substance abuse. “I thought I could handle all the alcohol, I could handle all the Adderall, I could handle all the drugs, but I couldn’t,” he admitted. He added that he plans to travel to Haiti in two weeks to “do some voodoo.”
Support From Family
Ray J thanked his sister, singer and actress Brandy, for covering his hospital bills. The two have long shared a close bond, with Brandy often stepping in during his public struggles. This is not the first time Ray J has battled pneumonia. In 2021, he was hospitalized during the COVID-19 pandemic and described the experience as life-threatening.
Personal Struggles
Ray J’s health crisis comes amid ongoing personal turmoil. He and his estranged wife, Princess Love, have filed for divorce four times since marrying in 2016. The couple share two children: daughter Melody, 7, and son Epik, 6. Beyond his marriage, Ray J has remained in headlines for his past relationship with Kim Kardashian. Their infamous 2007 sex tape continues to cast a shadow over his career. In recent years, he has accused Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, of orchestrating the tape’s release.
Legal Battles
In October 2025, Kardashian and Jenner sued Ray J for defamation after he suggested racketeering charges against them would be appropriate. Ray J countersued, claiming the family spent decades pushing a false narrative about the tape. He is seeking $1 million in damages, alleging they violated an agreement to keep the tape out of their reality show. Kardashian’s attorney Alex Spiro dismissed the claims, calling Ray J’s countersuit “frivolous.”
A Troubled Legacy
Ray J, cousin of Snoop Dogg, rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like Sexy Can I. His career has been marked by both success and controversy. Now, his health struggles have placed him in the spotlight once again, with fans rallying behind him as he faces an uncertain future.
