Tributes continue to pour in for actor Robert Carradine, who died at the age of 71 after a long battle with bipolar disorder. His daughter, actress Ever Carradine, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, remembering her father as a loving, supportive presence who shaped her life.
A Daughter’s Tribute
Ever, best known for her role as Naomi in The Handmaid’s Tale, posted a series of family photos alongside a moving caption. “My dad died today. My sweet, funny dad, who’s only 20 years older than I am… If you knew my dad, you know he’s the guy that’s always there,” she wrote.
She reflected on their close bond, describing how they “basically grew up together.” Ever explained: “Twenty years age difference really isn’t that much, and while I never ever thought of him as a sibling, I did always think of him as my partner. We were in it together.”
Memories of Love and Support
Ever praised her father for always showing up for her and others he loved. “Growing up in the 70s and 80s with a single dad in Laurel Canyon is not exactly the recipe for a grounded childhood, but somehow mine was,” she shared. “Whenever anyone asks me how I turned out so normal, I always tell them it’s because of my dad. I knew my dad loved me, I knew it deep in my bones, and I always knew he had my back.”
She described Robert as “a lover, not a fighter,” and encouraged others to ask her about him: “Bobby Carradine made me who I am.”
Martha Plimpton’s Tribute
Robert’s niece, actress Martha Plimpton, also honored him on Instagram. “My Uncle Bobby was the best one of all 8 brothers; blood, adopted, and step. Out of all of them, he was the absolute best,” she wrote. Plimpton praised his talent, calling him “the best actor of the bunch by a thousand miles,” and remembered his inherent kindness and decency.
Family Statement
Robert’s family confirmed his death in a statement to Deadline, describing him as “a beacon of light” and acknowledging his “valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder.” They expressed hope that his journey would help reduce stigma around mental illness.
Robert Carradine leaves behind three children, including Ever, Ian, and Marika. His legacy spans more than 140 acting credits, from Revenge of the Nerds to Lizzie McGuire, and his family’s tributes highlight the love and kindness he carried throughout his life.
