Cinema Audio Society Awards 2026: ‘F1,’ ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ and ‘The Studio’ Win Big

The 62nd Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Awards celebrated excellence in sound mixing on Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton, honoring achievements across film, television, and documentary categories.

Film Winners

The live-action feature award went to the sound team behind F1: The Movie. Gareth John, Gary A. Rizzo, Juan Peralta, Alan Meyerson, Alan Freedman, and Dennis Leonard were recognized for their outstanding work. In the animated feature category, KPop Demon Hunters took home the prize. Howard London, Michael Babcock, Tony Lamberti, Erich Talaba, and Giorgi Lekishvili were honored for their contributions to the film’s immersive soundscape. The documentary award was presented to Becoming Led Zeppelin, with Nigel Albermaniche and Nick Bergh credited for their sound mixing achievements.

Television Winners

On the TV side, The Pitt won in the one-hour series category, while The Studio earned recognition in the half-hour series category. Adolescence was awarded in the non-theatrical motion picture or limited series category. The sound team behind Billy Joel: And So It Goes received the award for television non-fiction, variety, or music specials.

Career Honors

Guillermo del Toro was named filmmaker honoree, while Skip Lievsay received the CAS Career Achievement Award. Lievsay’s career spans over four decades, with credits on films such as Gravity, No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Inside Llewyn Davis, and Roma. He has collaborated with acclaimed directors including the Coen brothers, Alfonso Cuarón, Martin Scorsese, and Spike Lee.

Celebrating Sound Mixing

Actor Chris Hardwick hosted the ceremony, which highlighted the artistry and technical expertise of sound mixers. The CAS Awards continue to shine a spotlight on the craft, recognizing the teams who bring depth and realism to both motion pictures and television.

The event also acknowledged student recognition award finalists, including Mingxi Xu from the National Film and Television School, underscoring the importance of nurturing the next generation of sound professionals.
