Netflix’s highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed has expanded its cast with two major additions. Claes Bang and Nabhaan Rizwan have joined the series as regulars, bringing star power and international acclaim to the project.
A Franchise With Global Reach
The Assassin’s Creed video game franchise has sold more than 230 million units worldwide, making it one of the best-selling series in gaming history. Its adaptation into a high-octane thriller promises to explore the secret war between factions fighting for control versus free will, spanning pivotal historical events.
Claes Bang’s Role
Danish actor Claes Bang is best known for his Palme d’Or-winning performance in The Square and his role in Robert Eggers’ The Northman. He has also appeared in The Affair and recently starred in William Tell. His addition to the cast signals Netflix’s commitment to bringing gravitas and international talent to the series.
Nabhaan Rizwan Joins the Cast
BAFTA Rising Star nominee Nabhaan Rizwan has built a strong reputation with roles in Station 11, Industry, and Netflix’s Kaos. He has also appeared in BBC dramas Dope Girls and Juice. Rizwan’s versatility and rising profile make him a compelling addition to the ensemble.
Creative Team and Returning Cast
The series is helmed by Roberto Patino (Westworld, Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (Halo, The Killing), who serve as creators and executive producers. Previously announced cast members include Lola Petticrew, Toby Wallace, Zachary Hart, Laura Marcus, Tanzyn Crawford, Noomi Rapace, Sean Harris, and Corrado Invernizzi.
Legacy of Adaptations
This marks the second major screen adaptation of the Ubisoft franchise. The 2016 film starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard grossed over $240 million worldwide. Netflix’s series aims to build on that legacy with a serialized format that allows deeper exploration of the franchise’s lore.
