Singer Chappell Roan is speaking out after a tense encounter with photographers and fans outside a Paris restaurant. The 28-year-old Grammy winner, known for hits like My Kink Is Karma, was filmed addressing the crowd in a viral video, calling their behavior “harassing” and saying it made her feel “disregarded as a human.”
Setting Boundaries in Public
Roan, wearing a headscarf, spoke directly into her phone camera while surrounded by people asking for autographs and photos. “I’m just trying to go to dinner, and I’ve asked these people several times to get away from me,” she said. Pointing to one individual, she added, “This person I’ve asked several times to go away, and they will not. They’re hiding their face because they’re ashamed.”
She continued, “All of you, I’m asking you kindly to please leave me alone and stop following me and harassing me.” When one fan asked for an autograph, Roan firmly replied, “No, I’m not gonna sign.”
Paris Fashion Week Appearance
The incident occurred during Paris Fashion Week, where Roan has been attending shows by Acne Studios, Mugler, Vivienne Westwood, and Alexander McQueen. Despite her rising fame, she has been vocal about the challenges of maintaining personal boundaries in public spaces.
Past Comments on Fame
Roan previously discussed the pressures of celebrity in a 2025 interview on the Outlaws with TS Madison podcast. She explained that pop stars are often treated poorly compared to everyday workers. “I’ve been treated better at my donut shop job than I have on a f—— carpet,” she said.
She also warned about the toll of constant public scrutiny: “Do you want me to just get to the point where I become agoraphobic? Or so stressed out or so anxious to perform? Because if I don’t say anything I will. If I do not stand up for myself, I will quit because I cannot bear this.”
A Call for Respect
Roan’s latest video highlights the ongoing conversation about celebrity privacy and the need for fans and photographers to respect boundaries. As her career continues to rise, she remains committed to protecting her mental health and ensuring she can thrive both on and off stage.
