Ed Sheeran is opening up about fatherhood and his hopes for the future of his family.
A Proud Girl Dad
During Episode 3 of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, hosted by rapper Dave Burd (Lil Dicky), Sheeran was asked if he wanted a son. His answer reflected his joy in raising daughters. “You know what? I don’t know. I don’t know. I think … I think maybe I’d want another girl. I think. I don’t know,” he said.
The English singer-songwriter, 35, shares two daughters — Lyra, born in 2020, and Jupiter, born in 2022 — with his wife Cherry Seaborn.
Family Life on Tour
Sheeran revealed that Jupiter was born just a week after he embarked on tour, and his family joined him on the road. He described the experience of raising two children close in age as “chaotic to begin with” but ultimately rewarding. “They just play together, bath together and sleep together and school together and everything’s like locked in,” he explained.
Tattoos Inspired by His Kids
Fatherhood has also influenced Sheeran’s tattoos. Last year, he shared on the Call Her Daddy podcast that his legs have become a “drawing book” for his daughters. “My daughter’s just done a little bunny rabbit for my leg, and you can put the date of it. It’s quite nice seeing it,” he said. He also had their footprints inked the week they were born.
Looking Ahead
While Sheeran hasn’t ruled out having a son, his comments show how much he cherishes being a girl dad. His openness about family life highlights the balance he maintains between global stardom and being a devoted father.
