Frank Sinatra’s timeless music and extraordinary life story are heading to London’s West End. Sinatra The Musical will make its premiere at the Aldwych Theatre this summer, with performances beginning June 3, 2026.
From Birmingham to the West End
The production first debuted at Birmingham Rep in 2023, where it enjoyed a sold-out run. Now, the show is set to captivate London audiences with more than 20 of Sinatra’s signature songs, including That’s Life, One For My Baby, The Best Is Yet to Come, and Come Fly With Me.
A Story of Triumph and Turmoil
The musical opens on New Year’s Eve 1942, as a 27-year-old Sinatra prepares for a career-defining performance at New York’s Paramount Theatre. The narrative follows his meteoric rise to fame, his marriage to Nancy Sinatra, and his tumultuous affair with Ava Gardner. It also explores the dramatic downturn in his career before culminating in his historic comeback, driven by family devotion and relentless artistic determination.
Tina Sinatra, the singer’s daughter, emphasized the emotional depth of the production: “My dad used to always say, ‘If I can’t feel it, I can’t sing it.’ He wasn’t just singing songs, he was recording an emotional diary of his life. And it’s these classic songs that form the heart of Sinatra The Musical.”
Creative Team and Vision
The show is penned by two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro (Memphis the Musical, What’s New Pussycat?) and directed and choreographed by three-time Tony winner Kathleen Marshall (Top Hat, Anything Goes). Olivier Award winner Peter McKintosh designed the set, while Gareth Valentine supervises a 17-piece orchestra.
DiPietro noted that Tina Sinatra gave him unprecedented access to her father’s personal story, enabling the team to craft “the most revealing portrait ever told about the legend that is Frank Sinatra.” Marshall, recently inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame, said she is “beyond thrilled” to bring Sinatra’s extraordinary persistence and artistry to the stage.
Production and Legacy
The creative team includes Jon Morrell (costumes), Bruno Poet (lighting), Jonathan Deans (sound), Akhila Krishnan (video), and Campbell Young Associates (wigs, hair, and makeup). Orchestrations are by Larry Blank and John Clayton, with arrangements by Ian Eisendrath and dance arrangements by David Chase.
Presented by Universal Music Group Theatrical alongside Frank Sinatra Enterprises, the production is part of a larger initiative to introduce new audiences to Sinatra’s musical legacy. Booking is currently open through April 10, 2027. With its blend of iconic songs, dramatic storytelling, and world-class creative talent, Sinatra The Musical promises to be one of the most anticipated West End events of 2026.
