Hilary Duff is embracing her role as the playful parent with a stomach-turning twist. The actress and singer recently shared details about a quirky game she plays with her 13-year-old son, Luca Cruz, during her appearance on Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meals.
Inventing the Grossest Bite
Duff, 38, laughed as host Josh Scherer introduced her as the “inventor” of the “disgusting food game.” The concept is simple but far from appetizing: players raid the fridge to create the most revolting bite possible, then challenge each other to eat it. “If you spit that out, you are a loser,” Duff explained. “You have not won.”
Chaos in the Kitchen
The game, which began with Luca and his friends, often involves bizarre combinations of flavors and textures. Think peanut butter mixed with capers, topped with herbs, or something “wiggly” for extra shock value. Duff admitted the goal is “absolute sheer grossness” — enough to leave the other player on the floor.
Playing on Mythical Kitchen
During the episode, Duff and Scherer tested the game themselves, assembling chaotic bites filled with fish, fermented pastes, sweet sauces, and soda. At one point, Duff correctly identified Diet Coke in her concoction, joking about the aspartame. The round escalated when she discovered crickets in her food, reacting in mock horror: “There are so many crickets in my mouth!”
Family Fun
Despite the mess, Duff sees the game as a bonding experience with her kids. She shares Luca with ex-husband Mike Comrie and is also mom to Banks, 5, Mae, 3, and Townes, under 2, with husband Matthew Koma. For Duff, the “disgusting food game” is just another way to connect with her children — even if it leaves everyone queasy.
