The Kpop Demon Hunters phenomenon could extend into awards season. The animated Netflix mega-hit has been confirmed as one of 35 films officially eligible for the animated feature category at the 2026 Academy Awards, according to the Associated Press.
How It Qualified
The film earned eligibility thanks to a limited theatrical run in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco in June, followed by a nationwide sing-along release in August that grossed $18 million across 1,750 theaters. Combined with its record-breaking streaming success, the movie easily met the Academy’s requirements.

- Arco
- Elio
- Zootopia 2
- Little Amélie or the Character of Rain
- In Your Dreams
- Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle
