A lifelong Robbie Williams fan has been thrust back into the spotlight after the pop star attempted to call her phone number more than three decades after she first shouted it out at a Take That event.
A Teenage Dream
At just 14 years old, Jemma Williamson traveled from Wirral to Chester in hopes of meeting Williams at a Take That record signing. Unable to get inside, she stayed outside the venue and was filmed declaring her love for the singer. In the clip, she shouted her phone number, urging Williams to call her. The footage resurfaced in a recent Netflix documentary about Take That, where Williams was filmed by his wife attempting to dial the number. Instead of connecting, he was met with an automated “number not recognized” message.
Viral Nostalgia
Williams shared the moment on Instagram, where it quickly went viral, garnering more than 102,000 likes. For Williamson, now a nursery teacher in Wolverhampton, the response has been overwhelming. “I think it’s brought back a bit of nostalgia for everybody,” she said, reflecting on the unexpected attention. Since the documentary aired, Williamson has appeared on BBC Radio 2 and received countless supportive messages from fans across social media.
Missed Chance for a Reunion
Despite the renewed connection, Williamson’s hopes of seeing Williams perform live in her hometown were dashed. The singer is currently on tour and scheduled to play in Wolverhampton, just minutes from her home. But Williamson was unable to secure tickets as they sold out while she was teaching.
“If I got to meet him that would just be unreal, I’d be speechless,” she admitted. “It would just be crazy because he’s literally 10 minutes away from my house.”
A Lifelong Love
Williamson says her admiration for Williams has never faded. “He was just a cheeky chappy, he was the fun one,” she recalled. Over the years, she has attended numerous Take That and Robbie Williams concerts, though she never got the chance to meet him during her teenage years.
Williams himself continues to make history, recently surpassing The Beatles to become the artist with the most number one albums in UK chart history. For Williamson, the viral moment has reignited her teenage dream, proving that her devotion to the pop star remains as strong as ever.
