KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations have announced that their highly anticipated film Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups, starring Yash, will now release worldwide on June 4, 2026, instead of its original March 19 date.
Reason for Delay
The production companies cited the ongoing conflict in the Middle East as the primary reason for the shift. In a joint statement, they explained that the uncertainty in the region has created challenges in reaching the widest possible audience.
“After years of dedicated labour, we were excited to share our film with you all on the 19th of March. However, the current uncertainty, especially in the Middle East, has created a situation that impacts our goal to reach and connect with the widest possible audience,” the statement read.
The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is expected to be a major market for the film, making the timing of its release critical.
About the Film
Directed by Geethu Mohandas and co-written with Yash, Toxic is set in a bygone era in Goa. The story unfolds against the backdrop of sun-soaked beaches and vibrant culture, where a powerful drug cartel manipulates life behind the scenes. The film has been marketed as a dark, gripping tale with fairytale elements tailored for adult audiences.
Industry Context
Interestingly, while Toxic has opted for a delay, Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar sequel is sticking to its March 19 release date. However, the sequel has already faced bans in several Middle Eastern countries due to accusations of Islamophobic content. This contrast highlights the delicate balance filmmakers must strike when releasing films in politically sensitive regions.
Looking Ahead
Despite the delay, anticipation for Toxic remains high. With Yash’s star power and Mohandas’ unique storytelling, the film is expected to make a strong impact when it finally hits theaters in June. The producers expressed gratitude to fans for their patience and promised that the wait will be worth it.
