Netflix has unveiled the red band trailer for Tyler Perry’s latest comedy, Joe’s College Road Trip. The R-rated film promises a chaotic, foul-mouthed adventure led by Perry’s fan-favorite character Joe Simmons, a staple of the Madea universe.
A Bold New Chapter
Written, directed, and produced by Perry, the film shifts focus from Madea to Joe, who takes his grandson B.J. (Jermaine Harris) on a cross-country journey. The trailer opens with a blunt warning: “YOU’RE ABOUT TO SEE SOME F*%KED UP SHIT,” setting the tone for outrageous humor and unpredictable antics.
Road Trip Chaos
According to Netflix’s logline, Joe’s mission is to teach B.J. about the “real world” through a college road trip filled with tension, lessons, and plenty of laughs. Along the way, the duo encounters wild scenarios that push the boundaries of Perry’s comedic storytelling.
Ensemble Cast
The film features Amber Reign Smith, Bethany Anne Lind, Jeremy Gimenez, Millie Jackson as Geraldine, Wil Deusner, Ms. Pat, and Nickolas Wolf as Todd. Perry himself plays multiple roles, including Joe Simmons, Madea, and Brian Simmons, continuing his tradition of multi-character performances.
Production and Release
Filmed in January 2024 across Las Cruces, New Mexico; Memphis, Tennessee; and Clarksdale, Mississippi, the movie was produced under Tyler Perry Studios with Angi Bones as co-producer. Netflix will stream the film exclusively starting February 13, 2026.
