Sydney Sweeney Reveals the Stories Behind Her ‘Good Scars’

Sydney Sweeney opens up about the scars that tell the story of her fearless life.

Sydney Sweeney is known for her glamorous red-carpet looks and intense on-screen performances, but the actor is now shedding light on a more personal side of her journey. In a candid interview with WSJ Magazine published on January 6, the 28-year-old opened up about the scars she carries—and the experiences that shaped them. Rather than viewing them as imperfections, Sweeney described her scars as reminders of a fearless approach to life and work.

A Childhood Accident Left a Lasting Mark

Sweeney revealed that her most noticeable scar, located near her eye, dates back to a childhood wakeboarding accident. At just 10 years old, she attempted a 360-degree jump but lost control when the tip of the board struck her face. The injury required 17 stitches and left a permanent mark. “It was one of those moments where you’re just a kid trying something bold,” she explained, reflecting on how early risk-taking became part of her personality.

Injuries From an Adventurous Lifestyle

The actress also spoke about a scar on her leg caused by a dirt-bike accident. During the incident, Sweeney tore her MCL, adding another physical reminder of her love for high-adrenaline activities.

“I’ve always been active and adventurous,” she noted, emphasizing that her scars tell the story of someone unafraid to push boundaries—even when it comes with consequences.

A Mysterious Bite While Filming in Australia

Another scar came from an unexpected source while Sweeney was filming the movie Eden in Australia. She recalled being bitten by an unknown insect or animal, which led to a severe reaction.

“It turned into this crazy crater,” she said. The wound eventually healed but left behind a keloid scar, adding to what she now calls her collection of “good scars.”

Fearless, Even When Afraid

Despite describing herself as fearless, Sweeney admitted she still experiences fear—particularly when it comes to heights. Still, she refuses to let fear dictate her choices.

“I have a fear of heights, but I jumped out of a plane and went skydiving,” she said. “I’ll scream the whole way, but then I’ll want to do it again.” For Sweeney, courage isn’t the absence of fear, but the willingness to act in spite of it.

Pushing Physical Limits on Screen

That mindset extends to her acting career as well. For the upcoming biopic Christy, Sweeney portrayed legendary boxer Christy Martin and insisted on performing her own stunts, undergoing intense physical training for the role. Fans will next see her return as Cassie in Season 3 of Euphoria, set to premiere in April 2026. As her career continues to evolve, Sweeney’s scars stand as quiet symbols of resilience, ambition, and a refusal to play it safe.
